    Comedian-turned-actor Vir Das has taken an audacious step to come out of his comfort zone and has accepted the proposal to enact a serious Sikh role in a film based on 1984 anti-Sikh riots. National award-winning director Shivaji Lotan Patil will helm the project tentatively entitled 1984. A source from film unit stated, "Vir will be growing a beard and has been told to lose weight since he plays a riot victim. The film is set in the backdrop of the anti-Sikh riots triggered by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's assassination."

    Unfolding more about the flick, the source commented that the same will go on floors next month and is expected to release by the end of the year. Soha Ali Khan is cast opposite Vir in the female lead. More updates are yet awaited. Vir Das has performed in many flicks like Love Aaj Kal, Badmaash Company, Delhi Belly, Go Goa Gone and is currently busy with an upcoming project Shaadi Ke Side Effects, which is releasing on February28.
