Will Indu Sarkar Release This Friday?

Madhur Bhandarkar’s upcoming movie Indu Sarkar has had many controversies. The film has been in the news the day its trailer was released. The film received a lot of criticism from Congress party which termed it as an attempt to spoil the image of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and son Sanjay Gandhi.

The movie is schedule to hit the theatres on July 28, 2017. After the Bombay High Court on Monday rejected the petition filed against Madhur Bhandarkar’s Indu Sarkar, a woman named Priya Singh Paul, who claims to be a daughter of late Sanjay Gandhi, approached the Supreme Court on Wednesday seeking a stay on the release of the movie. The counsel from Paul’s side stated before a three judge bench headed by Justice Dipak Misra that Indu Sarkar is “full of concocted facts and is totally derogatory”. Priya also stated that Indira Gandhi and Sanjay Gandhi, which are the main characters of the film, are shown in bad light.

The bench which also included justices Amitava Roy and A.M. Khanwilkar refused to give a date for hearing the plea. “You give your memo. We will see to it. We are not giving any date,” the bench said. The Bombay High Court also said that no acknowledged descendant of Sanjay Gandhi has any problem regarding the movie. The court further stated that if CBFC has given a certificate to a film, no one has the right to put a stay on the release of the movie.
