Will Vijay Sethupathi's new film reunite Ilaiyaraaja and Vairamuthu?

Vijay Sethupathi, one of the busiest actors in Tamil cinema, has signed a new film with his guru Seenu Ramasamy. Titled as Maamanithan, music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja will produce the film.

Seenu Ramasamy and Vijay Sethupathi had so far worked together in three films--Thenmerku Paruva Kaatru and Dharma Durai, the former won two National Awards and the latter was a box office success. The third film, Idam Porul Yaeval, for reasons unknown has been lying in the cans for over a year now.

Thenmerku Paruvakatru also marks Vijay Sethupathi’s debut heroic film. As reported earlier by HT, Seenu Ramasamy is in talks with Ilaiyaraaja and Yuvan Shankar Raja to jointly compose music for Maamanithan.

“Ilaiyaraaja is excited to work with his son Yuvan. Soon, YSR Studios will be making an official announcement and we are waiting for Seenu Ramasamy to finish the final draft,” said a source close to the team.

Seenu Ramasamy is known for forming new combinations, he was the one to unite Vairamuthu and Yuvan Shankar Raja in Idam Porul Yaeval. Now, the big question in the industry is will Seenu Ramasamy reunite both Vairamuthu and Ilaiyaraaja? The legendary music composer-lyricist duo separated due to an unknown ego clash which broke out in the mid ‘80s.
