Cate surfaced as a surprise; no doubt, she is a good actress but Blanchett stated her joy mentioning, "As random and as subjective as this award is, it means a great deal in a year of, yet again, great performances by women." The actress has previously won Best Supporting Actress award in 2005 and has been nominated five times for Oscars. The Best Supporting Actor of 2014 Jared Leto got sentimental taking the award and paid tribute to his mom, “In 1971, there was a teenage girl who was pregnant with her second child. She was a high-school dropout and a single mom, but somehow she managed to make a better life for herself and her children. That girl is my mother.”
Jennifer Lawrence, in spite of not getting any Oscar, remained in limelight throughout. Jennifer fell down and to have a grip, she held the neck of a woman ahead of her. Cops had to come and make her stand on her feet. Bradley Cooper’s girlfriend and model-actress Suki Waterhouse addressed the evening saying, "I had such a great time. I loved it. It was a lot of fun." The night’s other highlights (Best dressed men) were Brad Pitt, Jared Leto, Will Smith, Matthew McConaughey, Ryan Seacrest and many more.
