    The Keanu Reeves-Patrick Swayze starrer classic of early 90’s,Point Breakis all set to be recreated by Alcon Entertainment and Warner Bros. and a new director has been finally appointed to helm the movie. The famous cinematographer Ericson Core of the originalThe Fast and the Furiousand Ben Affleck’sDaredevilfame, has been signed up to direct the remake.

    The new film, scripted by Kurt Wimmer stands in contrast with the Southern California scenario of the original story as it will be set in an international backdrop. Though, the storyline revolving around an FBI agent investigating into a criminal incident will remain the same. The movie will be co-produced byBroderick JohnsonandAndrew Kosove along with Michael DeLuca, John Baldecchi, Chris Taylorand Wimmer.

    The rising director of the 90’s era, Kathryn Bigelow, who was known for her intelligent action thrillers in her early days, directed the originalPoint Break. Alcon was looking for a suitable director for the remake for a long time and in the hunting process the director’s chair was even offered toWally Pfister,the director ofTranscendence. Core debuted as director in 2006 with the sports dramaInvincible.
