Action films loosing charm to superhero flicks: Sylvester Stallone

Hollywood hunk Sylvester Stallone, who has given super hit action-packed films like Rambo and Rocky, feels superhero flicks have made action films outdated. The actor, who will soon be seen playing another action role in Expendables 2, says the genre is fading away, E! online reported. "The action genre unfortunately is becoming... let's just say it's fading away. You have the superheroes today which are possessed with all extraordinary powers; they can blink and a fireball comes out of there. It's great. And then you have a bunch of us which is just your basic male pattern badness... Kind of like hands-on action," Sylvester said. In Expendables 2, which is releasing on August 17, the senior actor is essaying the role of Barney Ross. Besides Sylvester, other action heroes Jason Statham, Jet Li,Dolph Lundgren, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean Claude Van Damme, Liam Hemsworth and Bruce Willis are also doing key roles in the film. Besides the current film Stallone and Schwarzenegger have also signed another action film The Tomb together.
