After Earth, Now You See Me closely compete at the Hollywood box-office

Made for $130 million, M. Night Shyamalan and Sony’s After Earth was expected to witness a $35 million-$40 million opening weekend. On Friday it managed to gain around $10 million and predictions show meagre $25 million-plus weekend for the movie. Now You See Me has fared well ahead of its expectations.

The success of Now You See Me is quite remarkable and also surprising to some extent. To trade analysts’ major astonishment Now You See Me excelled over After Earth as it earned $1.5 million on Thursday night. Meanwhile Fast & Furious 6 has not surrendered its No. 1 position yet as its second week is expected to gross $40 million.
