    Alicia Vikander Is The New Lara Croft

    The iconic Tomb Raider video game franchise has established itself in the industry with its adventurous and Indiana Jones-ish qualities. The franchise is now getting a big screen reboot and The Danish Girl actress Alicia Vikander will be playing the lead character Lara Croft, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Previously, it was believed that Daisy Ridley was a potential candidate for the role.

    The game franchise started back in 1996 with the original Tomb Raider game which was developed by Eidos. Since then, there have been two cinematic adaptations which starred Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft. The movies titled ‘Lara Croft: Tomb Raider’ and ‘Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life’ earned around $432 million worldwide.

    The reboot will be directed by Roar Uthaug and the script will be penned by Geneva Robertson-Dworet. Alicia was last seen in ‘The Danish Girl’ which starred Eddie Redmayne and Amber Heard. She will next be seen in ‘Jason Bourne’, the next instalment in the Bourne franchise.
