'Alien' Franchise No Longer Needs Its Alien: Ridley Scott

'Alien' Franchise No Longer Needs Its Alien: Ridley Scott

In a recent interview, Oscar-winning director Ridley Scott has disclosed that the 'Alien' franchise will no longer use its alien. The character in the film was known as Xenomorph. The franchise began with Alien (1979), directed by Ridley Scott. It was followed by three sequels, Aliens (1986), Alien 3 (1992), and Alien Resurrection (1997). Scott also directed a prequel series, composed of Prometheus (2012) and Alien: Covenant (2017).

In the interview, Scott said, "I figured it was a good piece of business to follow through 'Prometheus' which, from ground zero, had good lift-off. So we went to 'Covenant' to perpetuate the idea and [revive] the franchise of the 'Alien'. I think the beast has almost run out, personally".

He further added that the next movie in the franchise would concentrate on the role of artificial intelligence in the world. If reports are to be believed, the filmmaker has planned for two more sequels in the series.  The recent was Alien: Covenant which was written by John Logan and Dante Harper.
