American Sniper tops Box Office again with Super Bowl record

Biographical war drama ‘American Sniper’ is nearing the $250 million mark, picking up $31.8 million to set a new weekend record. The Clint Eastwood film has shot down another box-office record: Its $31.9 million is the biggest Super Bowl weekend gross ever. It beat out the $31.1 million haul of 2008's Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert, the previous Super Bowl high earner.

Paddington came in second this week, with earnings of just over $8.5 million. The family film centers on the adventures of the eponymous fictional British bear and classic children's character Paddington, who is voiced by Ben Whishaw. Although it has only earned $50.5 million in the U.S. since its domestic release on January 16, worldwide it's doing pretty well. In third place this week is Project Almanac, which earned $8.5 million in its debut. The picture is about a group of teenagers who construct a time machine and the invention creates tremendous havoc.
