My Character Is Inspired By Mahatma Gandhi: Andy Serkis On War Of The Planet Of The Apes

The third and the last franchise of the Planet of the Apes reboot series titled 'War For The Planet Of The Apes' is releasing today. The film will see British actor-director Andy Serkis playing the role of Caeser, an evolved ape leader at war against oppressive humans. The actor has said that his role in the movie inspired by Mahatma Gandhi.

“Caeser is becoming more human. I was looking for human leader comparisons and I thought of the great Indian leader, Mahatma Gandhi. He was a strong example of the empathetic nature of a leader and the ability to not necessarily lead with force, but to lead by listening and empowering troops. That's the strength of great leadership,” said Andy.

Apart from Serkis, the movie also stars Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn, Amiah Miller, Karin Konoval, Judy Greer and Terry Notary. While Steve Zahn, Karin Konoval, Judy Greer and Terry Notary play apes, Woody Harrelson and Amiah Miller play humans.  The science fiction film is directed by Matt Reeves, while Mark Bomback has written it.
