Ansel Elgort Will Portray John F. Kennedy In Mayday 109

‘Mayday 109’, a World War II drama based on the sinking of Kennedy's PT boat in 1943, has been in development since 2015. Now, finally, some more progress has been made on the cast and Ansel Elgort has been brought on board to play the role of John F. Kennedy. The script, originally written by Samuel Franco and Evan Kilgore, was acquired by Beau Flynn and Basil Iwanyk in 2015.

An American patrol torpedo boat named PT 109, was under Kennedy’s command when it got rammed by the Japanese destroyer Amagin. The crew was presumed dead but Kennedy led the survivors to a deserted island. To look for food for the crew, Kennedy swam over two miles to two other islands.

Ansel can be seen on the big screen in ‘Baby Driver’ which will hit theatres tomorrow in India, alongside ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’. He has a few projects lined up which include ‘November Criminals’, ‘Billionaire Boys Club’, ‘Ascendant’ and ‘Jonathan’. ‘Mayday 109’ will be produced by Kent Kubena, Taylor Zea and Scott Sheldon.
