    Ant-Man Tiny On Screen, Huge At Box Office

    Disney and Marvel’s Ant-Man claimed the top spot at the box office with an opening of $58 million, pushing Minions down one spot. The Paul Rudd starrer was the second-lowest debut for Marvel Studios after The Incredible Hulk, which made $55.4 million. Releasing alongside Ant-Man, Trainwreck claims the third spot with $30.2 million.

    Jurassic World has still grossed the most with its $611 million. Inside Out made $306 million worldwide followed by Minions which made $216 million since its release. Being a family-friendly superhero, Ant-Man saw a crowd with 28 percent families and 32 percent females. Disney distribution chief Dave Hollis said, “This is a great start, albeit not as big as some people said it would be, and Marvel has once again successfully expanded its stable of characters in a way that makes its universe fresh”.

    Paramount’s Terminator Genisys holds the sixth spot with $5.4 million over the weekend and a total of $80 million. Magic Mike XXL came in next with its $4.5 million weekend. Overall, it made $58 million, falling behind Ted 2’s $77.4 million.
