    Armand Assante joins cast of ‘Darc’

    Armand Assante has joined the cast of action film ‘Darc’, reported The Hollywood Reporter. The Emmy Award winner is best known for portraying the role of John Gotti in the made-for-television film Gotti, and appearing in The Odyssey. The 65-year-old actor will be essaying the role of an agent who acquires the services of a criminal to seek revenge on the Yakuza (the Japanese mafia) after they kidnap the daughter of an Interpol agent.

    The movie is based on the theme of human trafficking and features power-packed action scenes including martial arts. The movie is being produced by Julius Nasso and will be helmed by Nick Powel. The director has previously worked on action sequences for movies such as Braveheart, Bourne Identity and Cinderella Man. Tony Schiena has written the movie and is also tipped to act in the film.

    “Schiena fills that void and lends credibility and originality to a genre that has been lacking a star for quite some time”, says the producer Julius Nasso. Apart from Assante, notable Japanese actors and actresses, which include Tetsu Watanabe, Kippei Shiina and Sho Ikushima, have also joined the cast of the hyper-violent gangster epic. The movie, which is filled with action and crime, is sure to catch the attention of action junkies.
