Avatar 2 Scheduled For A December 2018 Release?

20th Century Fox studios has updated its release schedule and reports suggest that the December 21, 2018 slot has been reserved for Avatar 2. This comes as great news for the fans of the original blockbuster which was released in 2009. Back in April, director James Cameron revealed that he plans to make four sequels to Avatar with the first scheduled for Holiday 2018.

The date has been reserved for the director’s production company which points towards an Avatar sequel. It has also been reported that the other three instalments will hit theatres in 2020, 2022 and 2023. These will be independent movies with standalone stories which will be part of the Avatar saga.

Avatar is still the highest grossing movie of all time with $2.8 billion at the worldwide box office. It starred Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Stephen Lang, Sigourney Weaver and Michelle Rodriguez. The movie told the story of an alien race called the Na'vi whose home world, Pandora, is chosen by humans for organic research. As Earth’s natural resources have been depleted, The Resources Development Administration has to mine for valuable minerals on the planet, which in turn endangers the life of its inhabitants.
