Ayelet Zurer may star in Ben-Hur

Ayelet Zurer will continue to play the mother of heroes if she signs on to join Ben-Hur. According to sources, the actress, who played Superman’s mom in Man of Steel, is in negotiations for the role of Naomi, Ben-Hur’s mother, in Timur Bekmambetov’s epic.

The story, which was originally written by Keith R. Clarke with rewrites by John Ridley, also follows the parallel tale of Jesus Christ, an aspect of the plot that was in Lew Wallace's original 1880 novel, but left out of the 1959 Ben-Hur adaptation starring Charlton Heston. Ben-Hur comes to theaters February 26th, 2016, and stars Morgan Freeman, Jack Huston, Toby Kebbell.
