Birdman wins top prize at DGA

Director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu won the best-director award from the Directors Guild of America (DGA) for ‘Birdman.’ The DGA held its 67th annual awards in Los Angeles in a non-televised ceremony hosted by Jane Lynch. The awards honor the best directors in film and television.

"If this is considered a great film, it has nothing to do with me," Inarritu said. "It is a miracle." ‘Birdmand’ has already won the Producers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild top awards, but it lost the Golden Globe to Wes Anderson’s ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel.’ Inarritu had already beat out feature film nominees Wes Anderson ("The Grand Budapest Hotel"), Morten Tyldum ("The Imitation Game") and Clint Eastwood ("American Sniper") to win the film directing trophy.
