Blade Runner Sequel Adds Mackenzie Davis

Mackenzie Davis, known for her role in The Martian is the latest star to join the Blade Runner sequel. The 29-year-old Canadian, also known for her roles in Zac Efron's That Awkward Moment and TV show Halt and Catch Fire, will also appear alongside Robin Wright and Dave Bautista in the all-star Denis Villeneuve project. The script by original film co-writer Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, based on a story by Fancher and Blade Runner director Ridley Scott, is shrouded in mystery.

Mackenzie casting news emerges a month after Gosling revealed he had started to make up information about the new movie because he doesn't want to upset studio bosses by spilling story details. The actor was quizzed about the much-anticipated sci-fi film while recently promoting his crime comedy The Nice Guys, and instead of refusing to talk about the project, he decided instead to tell about the movie is a star-studded musical, packed with dancing girls and Broadway-style tunes.

Ford will reprise his part as robot hunter Rick Deckard from the 1982 original, which was based on Philip K. Dick's novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? and directed by Ridley Scott. The sequel for Blade Runner has already cast Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Dave Bautista, Ana de Armas, Carla Juri and Robin Wright with Denis Villeneuve as its director. Scott will serve as an executive producer on the sequel. Filming is scheduled to start this summer with the premiere set for October 6, 2017.
