The Associated Press has reported that Steven Michael Quezada, known for his role as Steven Gomez in the hit series Breaking Bad, will be running for county commissioner in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The actor/comedian has based his stand on the prospect of having more Mexican-American politicians and against increasing urbanization. Currently, Bernalillo County is debating on the development and water scarcity issues.

Quezada said, “I think I bring a new face to the Democratic Party. We need to reach out to our young people — the young Chicanos, the young Latinos — and get them involved in this process and let them know this is important”. He is expected to announce his candidacy formally on Tuesday. Quezada is on the Albuquerque school board and might be going against three contenders for the seat in 2016.

In Breaking Bad, he played the role of a DEA agent Steven Gomez who was Hank Schrader’s partner. Hank was Walter White’s (Bryan Cranston) brother in law. Along with Breaking Bad, Quezada was seen in movies like ‘First Snow’, ‘Beerfest’ and ‘Kites’.
