Brie Larson Cast As Victoria Woodhull In Amazon’s Film About First Female Presidential Candidate

Deadline has reported that Amazon Studios has chosen Academy Award winner Brie Larson, to play the lead role in Victoria Woodhull, a movie about the first female Presidential candidate. Woodhull ran for Presidency in 1872 even though she was below the required age of 35. She was also the leader of the woman’s suffragette movement.

Her candidacy was an important even in history because at that point in time, women did not have the right to vote. Brie, along with starring in the project, will also be producing, alongside Lloyd Braun and Andrew Mittman. The script will be penned by Ben Kopit. The studio has currently not decided on who the director will be.

Victoria, along with her sister Tennessee Claflin, became the first women to operate a brokerage firm on Wall Street. They were taught to pretend to channel spirits for money, by their father. Victoria was arrested on charges of obscenity a few days before the election which made her run even more sensational.

On the work front, Larson was recently seen in ‘Kong: Skull Island’, where she shared screen space with Tom Hiddleston and Samuel L. Jackson.
