    Cannes 2013: Blue Is the Warmest Color, the winner of Palme d'Or

    Blue Is the Warmest Color, a French drama film by Abdellatif Kechiche has received the Palme d’Or at the 66th annual Cannes Film Festival on Sunday night. This is the first time ever that a gay romantic drama has been selected as the winner of Palme d’Or, the most prestigious award at the festival.

    The two young stars of the French drama, Adele Exarchopoulos and Lea Seydoux were also honoured at the festival. Another big winner at the festival was Inside Llewyn Davis, the Coen brothers' flick which starred Justin Timberlake and Carey Mulligan. While it was honoured with the highly-esteemed Grand Prix award, neither Joel nor Ethan Coen was present at the ceremony.

    • Best Short Film: Safe, Byoung-Gon Moon (Director)
    • Special mention: 37°4 S, Adriano Valerio (Director), Whale Valley, Gudmundur Arnar Gudmundsson (Director)
