Blue Jasmine actress Cate Blanchett is in negotiations to star in the upcoming film 'The House With a Clock in Its Walls'. The movie is an adaptation of John Bellairs' 1973 book of the same name. She will star alongside Goosebumps actor Jack Black.

The story of the flick revolves around an orphaned boy who moves with his uncle, who turns out to be a mediocre witch. When the boy gets to know that his uncle is a witch, he finds himself in a world of magic and danger. He discovers a clock inside the walls of his house that is designed to bring about doomsday.

Black will play the uncle, while Cate will essay the role of Mrs. Zimmerman, the uncle’s neighbour and best friend who is also a fellow witch. Eli Roth will direct the film from the script by Eric Kripke. Apart from scripting, Eric has also co-produced the flick along with Brad Fischer and James Vanderbilt. William Sherak, Tracey Nyberg, and Laeta Kalogridis are the executive producers.

Blanchett will be seen playing Marvel's first female on screen villain Hela, in the forthcoming flick 'Thor: Ragnarok'.
