    Civil War Takes MCU To $10 Billion

    The third instalment in the Captain America series, ‘Civil War’ has maintained its position on the throne of the weekend box office. The movie pooled in $72.5 million over its second weekend. Starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan and the other Avengers, the Anthony and Joe Russo directorial has crossed the $900 million mark with its $940 million in two weeks. With this, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has reached $10 billion over a period of nine years.

    Jon Favreau’s 'The Jungle Book', running on its fifth weekend, grossed $17 million. The overall earnings for the animated flick have reached $828 million worldwide. It features voices from Scarlett Johansson, Idris Elba, Ben Kingsley, Lupita Nyong'o and others. The recently released George Cooney starrer ‘Money Monster’ saw an opening of $15 million.

    ‘The Darkness’ also opened alongside ‘Money Monster’ and raked in $5.1 million. The movie has been directed by Greg McLean and stars Kevin Bacon and Radha Mitchell. Making it to the top five was Garry Marshall’s ‘Mother’s Day’. The movie brought in $3.2 million running on its third weekend.
