Colin Firth is taking sailing lessons to prepare for his role in an upcoming film. The 54-year-old actor will be seen in the untitled biopic on Donald Crowhurst. The news was revealed by the Oscar winning actor while attending a yacht party at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival.

Donald Crowhurst was a businessman and a sailor. He died while competing in the Sunday Times Golden Globe Race, which is a single-handed round the world yacht race. The film will follow Crowhurst's failed bid to win the 1968 Golden Globe Race, which ended with the yachtsman inventing an outrageous account of travelling the world alone by sea.

The movie will be helmed by James Marsh. The director is well known for his film The Theory Of Everything. The rumour mill has linked Rachel Weisz with the film, after Kate Winslet pulled out of the role to play Crowhurst’s wife.
