Creed Director Ryan Coogler Might Helm Black Panther

Black Panther will be seen in Captain America: Civil War next but there is also a standalone film being planned for the character, for which Ryan Coogler has been approached reportedly. It is said that the negotiations with the Creed filmmaker are going on. If all goes well, this will be the first Marvel film that concentrates on a black superhero majorly.

The 29-year-old director is yet to sign the deal but considering his inclination towards superhero flicks, it seems that the good news would turn up soon. While talking to Entertainment Weekly in October, Coogler was quoted as saying, “I was definitely one of this kids that had a comic-book collection. I was in the comic-book store quite a bit. So those types of films are etched into me because I have a familiarity with them. That being said, films like Wrong Answer, like Fruitvale, they interest me just as much, if not more”.

The film about Black Panther had been previously discussed with Ava DuVernay, who reportedly declined the offer. “I think I’ll just say we had different ideas about what the story would be. Marvel has a certain way of doing things and I think they’re fantastic and a lot of people love what they do. I loved that they reached out to me”, she said.
