Danai Gurira Joins Black Panther Cast

The Hollywood Reporter has brought word that the filmmakers of the upcoming Black Panther standalone film have added Danai Gurira to the cast. The movie will have Chadwick Boseman reprising his role as the titular character, after making his superhero debut in 'Captain America: Civil War'. Danai, on the other hand, is known for her role in ‘The Walking Dead’.

The agency also shared details regarding Danai’s role in the film, revealing that she will play Okoye, the leader of the Dora Milaje. Dora Milaje is an elite Wakandan security force. The cast for ‘Black Panther’ also includes Lupita Nyong’o playing Nakia, who is part of the Black Panther’s personal guard.

The movie is being directed by Ryan Coogler who is known for his film ‘Creed’. The comic book hero, Black Panther, first made an appearance in 1966, in the 52nd issue of Fantastic Four. The character was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
