Indian-origin Hollywood director Deepa Mehta’s much-talked about film,Midnight's Children, based on noted author Salman Rushdie’s famous novel of the same name was cleared by the censor board without a single cut despite Congress leaders’ accusation that it shows former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in bad light. Now Deepa, who was all set to fight a battle to save his films for any cuts, is ecstatic and relieved.

"After the unnecessary controversies I was kind of expecting some kind of problem. But the censor board was exceptionally fair. They didn't cut a single shot of my film. Of course they gave it an 'A' certificate. That's fine.Midnight's Childrenis meant for children. But the fact that an adult audience is being treated as a mature viewership is a sign of the changes that are creeping slowly but surely into the Indian socio-political framework."

After the censorial clearance, now the PVR cinemas, the Indian distributors ofMidnight's Children, have decided to dub the film into Hindi before its release at the end of January 2013.
