Derek Connolly Will Write The Script For Pacific Rim 2

Jurassic World co-writer Derek Connolly has been brought on board by Legendary to write the script for the sequel to the 2013 monster flick ‘Pacific Rim’. Derek has also penned the scripts for the upcoming King Kong reboot, ‘Kong: Skull Island’ as well as the ‘Jurassic World’ sequel. ‘Pacific Rim 2’ will be directed by Steven S. DeKnight.

Steven will be making his big screen directorial debut with the film. He was the show runner for the first season of Marvel’s Daredevil. The original script for the Pacific Rim sequel was written by Zak Penn and it is currently unclear whether Derek will be re-writing the script or coming up with a new draft entirely. Details regarding the plot of the film have not been announced as of yet.

Initially, ‘Pacific Rim 2’ was set to hit the screens on April 7 next year but it was postponed to August 4, 2017. The latest news regarding the release of the project was that Universal had removed it from their schedule. With the project making progress, we can expect an official announcement soon.
