X-Men: Days of Future Past had a grand world premiere on Saturday night at NYC but shockingly director Bryan Singer was a complete no-show at the gala event. It seems the recent lawsuits against the director, alleging him of sexual assault of minor boys, have affected his public appearances.

Nonetheless the premiere was attended by the entire cast of the film including Jennifer Lawrence, Hugh Jackman, Ellen Page, James McAvoy, Patrick Stewart and Michael Fassbender. Hundreds of fans of X-Men series were also invited to the event who cheered up the actors when they were busy posing for selfies. None of them passed any comment over their director’s absence at the event, either by avoiding such questions or acting diplomatically. 20th Century Fox’s chief Jim Gianopulos also mentioned Singer’s name thanking him in his introductory remarks.

Stewart, who plays Professor Xavier in the movie, said about Singer, “Well, he is a visionary,” adding that, “He is a serious filmmaker. He knows the craft inside out. He knows what he wants, although sometimes it could be a roundabout process to get there.” When asked if they are in touch after completion of the movie Stewart said, “We are in touch all the time, through email mostly.”When asked about Singer’s well-being the actor said, “He’s great!” Among others Shawn Ashmore also talked about the director saying, “There’s a familiarity and trust for a lot of the actors, because he’s worked with us before and he cast us.” “It was amazing to have him back,” he said further. Producer Hutch Parker expressed his hope that Singer would come back for the new film in the franchise. X-Men: Days of Future Past will release on May 23 at the U.S. box-office.
