Edgar Ramirez set to star in 'Gold'

‘Wrath of the Titan’ star Edgar Ramirez, 37, will be joining Matthew McConaughey in the cast of Black Bear Pictures upcoming mining drama ‘Gold.’ Production is set to begin in June with filming in New York, New Mexico and Thailand.

The project, which has a script from Patrick Massett and John Zinman, revolves around the 1993 Bre-X Corporation mining scandal. The plot follows a rough-around-the-edges prospector Walsh (McConaughey) who stumbles upon one of the largest gold mines in the world in the Indonesian jungle. Which, you may not be surprised to learn given the word “scandal” before, turned out to be bogus. Ramirez is set as geologist Michael Acosta in the true-life tale. Stephen Gaghan is directing the film.
