Either Of Niki Caro, Lesli Linka Glatter Or Lorene Scafaria To Direct 'Captain Marvel'

According to reports, three female filmmakers Niki Caro, Lesli Linka Glatter and Lorene Scafaria have been shortlisted to direct Marvel Studio's forthcoming first female-centric superhero movie 'Captain Marvel'. The list of contenders also included Jennifer Kent and Jennifer Yuh. The movie is slated to be released in 2019, giving Marvel plenty of time to take the correct decision.

Marvel has wanted to rope in a woman to direct ‘Captain Marvel’. The top choices have diverse backgrounds in films. New Zealander Caro is best known for 'Whale Rider’ (2002). Glatter, who hails from the television world, is famed for being the main director of ‘Homeland’.

Lorene Scafaria has written the screenplay for ‘Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist’, a 2008 romantic comedy-drama which was based on a novel of the same name. She made her feature directorial debut with 'Seeking a Friend for the End of the World' (2012). ‘Room’ actress Brie Larson has already been brought on board to star as the title character and her alter ego Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot whose DNA is fused with an alien after an explosion. Nicole Perlman & Meg LeFauve will together write ‘Captain Marvel’.
