    Elizabeth Wilson, of  The Graduate, Dies at 94


    Tony-award winning American actress Elizabeth Wilson passed away on Saturday at her New Haven, Connecticut home. The actress was best known for her collaborations with acclaimed filmmaker Mike Nichols, most notably in 1967's "The Graduate", in which she played Dustin Hoffman's on-screen mother. Wilson's other notable supporting role was as Roz, the nemesis of Jane Fonda, Dolly Parton and Lily Tomlin in 9 to 5.


    Ms. Wilson knew from an early age that she wanted to be an actress, but she was never very interested in being a star. Wilson’s first role was an uncredited appearance in Alfred Hitchcock’s Notorious. She would later receive a proper credit for Hitchcock as Helen Carter in the 1963 thriller The Birds.


    Her last onscreen appearance came in 2012’s Hyde Park on Hudson, where she played the mother of Franklin Delano Roosevelt.Wilson won her Tony Award for Stick and Bones, an anti-war drama written by David Rabe. The actress also earned nominations for BAFTA Film Awards, the Emmy Awards and the Drama Desk Awards.
