Emma Stone To Play Billie Jean King In Fox Searchlight’s ‘Battle of the Sexes’

For long, Emma Stone’s name has been doing the rounds to play Billie Jean King in Fox Searchlight’s ‘Battle of the Sexes’ but the actress’ busy schedule had almost derailed the deal. Once again, the tinsel town is abuzz after Variety reported that the 27-year-old actress has locked the deal to play tennis-pro. However, the industry is waiting for an official announcement to be made.

Steve Carell is also a part of the sports drama flick and will be seen playing the role of Bobby Riggs.  The movie will be centred on the King and Riggs’ competition of 1973, when King, who was then ranked at No. 2, had beaten the 55-year-old retired former Wimbledon champion, Riggs. Apart from this, the infamous tennis match is also subject to be a part of the story line.

Danny Boyle will produce the flick along with Christian Colson. Little Miss Sunshine fame duo of directors, Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, will don the director’s hat for the project. The story of the film is penned by Simon Beaufoy.
