Ewan McGregor is in final talks to join Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Ian McKellen, Emma Thompson and Luke Evans in the live-action remake of the classic French fairytale ‘Beauty and the Beast’. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn director Bill Condon will helm ‘Beauty And The Beast,’ which is due to start production in May at Shepperton Studios in London.

Ewan McGregor is in talks to play the amorous candlestick, who used to be a regular old human servant before the Beast mouthed off to some witch who cursed his entire household. Ian McKellen has signed to play singing clock Cogsworth, while Emma Thompson may be cast as Mrs Potts. Kevin Kline will play Belle’s father and Audra McDonald will portray Garderobe.

Beauty and the Beast is one of several live-action fairy tales in the works at Disney, along with The Jungle Book, Dumbo, Mulan, Pinocchio, and Winnie the Pooh. McGregor previously starred in a live-action fairy tale for rival Warner Bros., Jack the Giant Slayer. “Beauty and the Beast” will open in theatres on March 17, 2017.
