After bringing home the rights to the movie, Step, Fox Searchlight has announced the worldwide release date of the same. It has become the second big movie to announce the opening date as July 7, the other being Sony’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. Step, was first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.

The flick stars Blessin Giraldo, Cori Grainger, Tayla Solomon, Gari McIntyre and Paula Dofat in lead characters. This dance documentary portrays the senior year of a girls’ high-school step dance team in inner-city Baltimore. Each student tries to be the first in their families to attend college and striving to make their dancing a success, despite the social unrest which plays in the backdrop.

Step is a Stick Figure, Impact Partners, Vulcan, and Scott Rudin production, which is being produced by Lipitz and Steven Cantor. The movie is already getting strong positive reviews. Variety‘s Geoff Berkshire said, “Documentaries aren’t often discussed in terms of their ability to entertain, but ‘Step’ might be the most infectiously entertaining doc since Chris Rock’s ‘Good Hair”.
