‘The Wall’ from Game of Thrones is perhaps the most defined feature in the series and rather the most important one. The ice wall that spreads 700-foot-tall and 300-foot-wide acts as a barrier dividing civilized Westeros from the Wildlings in the north. George R.R. Martin, the author of ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series, which provides basis for HBO’s Game of Thrones series, has recently revealed during his visit to Northwestern University that he got the idea for ‘The Wall’ from abominable winters of Chicago. He said that he has lived through the blizzard of 1967, which helped him modeling ‘The Wall’.

“The coldest winter was in Chicago. There was so much snow that winter, you couldn't see, all snow, all ice, and it was so very cold. But they were trenches of ice. I remember walking through the trenches and the tunnels of ice, the wind blowing so you couldn't even see. It's an experience that never left me”, Martin revealed.

Martin is the only one who knows the answer to much speculated question that if Jon Snow is dead or alive. To that Martin said, “No comment on that”. He continued, “I'm just saying, read the books”. The sixth book in the series is expected to arrive before the sixth season of TV series.
