HBO is looking to renew the hit series Game of Thrones for season seven and eight. The news came after the announcement of season 6 premier date, April 24. Currently, it is not known if season eight will mark the end of the series or not.

HBO programming president Michael Lombardo stated, “The question is, ‘How much beyond seven are we going to do?’ Obviously we’re shooting six now, hopefully discussing seven. [Show runners David Benioff and Dan Weiss] feel like there’s two more years after six. I would always love for them to change their minds, but that’s what we’re looking at right now”.

Game of Thrones season 5 ended at a cliff-hanger with John Snow, played by Kit Harington, being stabbed by his comrades, Sansa & Theon jump of the castle wall in order to escape Ramsay Bolton and Arya went blind! Filling in all these blanks, season 6 will also bring back Bran Stark who was absent from season 5. It is also known that there is no book for the sixth season and the creators of the show will be journeying into uncharted territory.
