According to reports, George Clooney and Grant Heslov are working on a limited series that will explore the Watergate scandal that threw the then US President Richard Nixon out of office. They will be working along with screenwriter-producer Matt Charman. Charman, who also wrote the screenplay for the Oscar-winning Steven Spielberg film 'Bridge of Spies’, will be writing the script of this eight-part series.

The project will look into the stories of certain people who were involved in the scandal. Clooney and Heslov will be the executive producers. Sources have revealed that George might direct a part of the series.

Sonar Entertainment , which will produce the project, signed the first look deal with Clooney and Heslov's Smokehouse Pictures last year. The Watergate scandal took place in June 1972 when five men broke into the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee at the Watergate complex in Washington D.C. The men were arrested later. The investigation carried out later revealed a cover up which was initiated by high-ranking White House officials that eventually forced Nixon to resign in 1974.
