    G.I. Joe: Retaliation emerges topper in 3 major home entertainment charts

    G.I. Joe: Retaliation proved an epitome of success for Paramount Home Media Distribution earlier this year in the cinemas. Its journey of success has still not come to an end as it has also topped all three major home entertainment charts after marking its debut on DVD and Blu-ray.

    The sequel to 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra topped the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart without much effort, including overall disc sales, DVD and Blu-ray. Retaliation is being followed by Warner’s direct-to-video superhero movie Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox. 42, Jackie Robinson biopic by Warner Bros., was the topper of the sales chart through last two weeks but it dropped down to No. 3 this week, followed by Disney’s Teen Beach Movie.

    Universal’s Despicable Me has landed at No. 5 adding to the ongoing success rate of its sequel at the theatres. Earning $122.5 million at the domestic box office, G.I. Joe: Retaliation has sold 54 percent of its Blue-Ray copies with 7 percent marketing of the 3D combo pack, according to the Nielsen’sBlu-ray Disc sales chart. The other new releases which have positioned themselves on the sales charts are Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: The Next Generation — Redemption. G.I. Joe: Retaliation has also secured the No. 1 position on Home Media Magazine’s rental chart for the week.
