    The entire world was waiting with baited breath for George Clooney-Sandra Bullock starrer Gravity and finally the wait has ended on Thursday night. The huge expectations have been evident enough from the box-office numbers of the film as it has scored a $1.4 million opening on Thursday night.

    It means the opening weekend can expect a $40 million business definitely. When it comes to 3D ticket sales, Gravity is all set to break the previous records. As told by an online ticketing site Fandango, 91% of tickets sold for Gravity are in 3D which means it has overpowered even Avatar. Gravity was produced with a $100 million budget and received positive reviews following its screenings at the Venice, Telluride and Toronto film festivals. If it meets the $40 million mark it would be one of the biggest openings of the month of October undoubtedly. Presently the topmost position is being held by Paranormal Activity 3 which launched with $52 million this month. Runner Runner, starring Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake, is also opening this weekend and is eyeing a $10-12 million debut.
