Gwendoline Christie Heavily Inspired By Carrie Fisher

Gwendoline Christie is well known for her role in the hit HBO series Game of Thrones where she plays Brienne of Tarth, who is a warrior and a knight. The actress was recently seen, rather heard, in Star Wars: The Force Awakens where she played the role of Captain Phasma. Gwendoline revealed that Carrie Fisher was a huge inspiration for her and motivated her to play strong women characters.

The actress said, “I loved Princess Leia, and that even in my infant mind I remember thinking, 'She's a different kind of woman to the women I see in films'. I've been lucky enough to play a couple of parts of women who are very driven and somewhat unconventional. I love playing women who kick ass!”

Christie added, "I said, 'I feel that perhaps watching you planted a seed in my mind.' To which Fisher joked, 'I did actually plant a seed in your mind. It's true.' She's incredible”.
