Jake Gyllenhaal and Amy Adams are front runners to star in Nocturnal Animals. Directed by Tom Ford, the thriller is being produced by George Clooney and Grant Heslov under the banner of Smokehouse Pictures. This is the first time Ford (53) is donning the director’s hat after his much acclaimed and Oscar nominated film, A Single Man (2009).

Nocturnal Animals - based on the novel Tony and Susan by Austin Wright - is about Tony whose family vacation turns violent and deadly; and the story of Susan, who finds herself recalling her first marriage and confronting some dark truths about her.

Both the actors have been pursuing the leading roles since the script was released for the recently announced Nocturnal Animals.  Both are enjoying a great run right now, with Gyllenhaal garnering acclaim for Prisoners, Nightcrawler and Enemy, while Adams has bagged five Oscar nominations since 2006.
