The Heat crew aims to heal the Bostonians’ injuries with comic relief
The entire crew of the upcoming comedy film by Paul Fieg,The Heat, set in Boston and starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy, holds strong hope that they would be able to provide a little bit comic relief in the present distressed situation in the Bostonians’ lives, post the cruel Marathon bombings on Monday.
The director along with the main actors promoted the film at CinemaCon on Thursday. The film will revolve around Sandra as an FBI special agent and detective Melissa who are up to take down a Russian drug peddler. Feig introduced the film, saying,"The movie is such a love letter to Boston,"before presenting the official trailer. He continued saying,"It's not a movie where it's supposed to be New York but it's shot in Boston.” "This takes place in Boston. We have Boston natives in the movie, likeJane Curtinand (comic-actor)Bill Burrand (New Kids on the Block member)Joey McEntire— all these famous Bostonians are in it. And if this movie can help Boston laugh, than that would be great,” he went on.
Bullock told,"I think having been there, having had our entire crew around us all the time, who are all from Boston, you're just hoping. And when you see the aftermath, I try to look on the other side, which is, 'Look how amazing the people were. Look at those people that ran towards everyone without thinking twice about themselves.” The trio confirmed that special screenings of the movie will be organized in Boston, though no proper plans have been chalked out yet. A 20thCentury Fox spokesperson confirmed, "We plan to screen the film in Boston timed to release. It's not pegged to a charity or recent events. Just a special screening in the town where it was shot.”The Heatwill hit the U.S. theatres on June 27.
