Heath Ledger has been part of movies like ‘10 Things I Hate About You’, ‘Brokeback Mountain’, ‘A Knight’s Tale’ and others but, he is most remembered for his portrayal of the Joker in Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight’. Before the release of the film, the actor was found dead in his apartment in New York City. The cause of death was accidental intoxication from prescription drugs. His apartment was a shrine to the Joker where he kept all his research material.

He had Batman comic books, research on the possible origin of the Joker, information about the previous actors who’ve played the part like Jack Nicholson and Cesar Romero. Heath had also collected small clown statues and had recordings of him practicing his voice for the character. It was previously revealed that the late actor kept a journal which had ‘The Joker’ inscribed on it. On the back of one of the pages of the journal, the words ‘bye, bye’ were scribbled.

The late 28-year-old was found dead in his apartment on January 22, 2008. He won the 'New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Actor' and 'Best International Actor from the Australian Film Institute' awards for his role in ‘Brokeback Mountain’. His career spanned over 19 films beginning in 1997.
