The Big Short actor, Steve Carell, who is known for his comedic roles in films like ‘Get Smart’, ‘Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy’ and others, feels that the audience needs something that does not have a lot of cynicism involved in it. He says that light-hearted comedic movies definitely have a place in today’s political climate. The 54-year-old feels that something that expresses the decency of human behavior is a must.

“What is an audience looking for?' is a different question than 'What does an audience need to see?' For me as an actor, I'm tending to go towards things that are lacking cynicism and have a point of view and potentially a joy to them”, the actor shared. He went on to say, “Not necessarily a happy ending, but something that expresses decency of human behavior. Those are the kinds of things that reflect where I am”.

On the work front, the actor was last seen in ‘Café Society’ which came out in August last year. He will next be seen in the third installment of the ‘Despicable Me’ animated series titled, ‘Despicable Me 3’. Directed by Kyle Balda, Pierre Coffin and Eric Guillon, the movie will be released on June 30.
