    Hollywood Loses Horror Master Wes Craven

    Mr. Wes Craven, the genius behind horror flicks like A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Last House on the Left and The Hills Have Eyes, passed away on Sunday at the age of 76. It was reported that he had been fighting brain cancer. Details about his death have not been revealed as of yet.

    Craven’s film A Nightmare on Elm Street was a huge success and saw multiple sequels. It was the origin for the character Freddy Krueger and the debut of Johnny Depp. Another famous franchise titled Scream was directed by Craven. The movie also saw three sequels and a T.V. series. Filmmaker Mick Garris reported a conversation he had with Craven in which Craven said, “I can see that I give my audience something. I can see it in their eyes, and they say thank you a lot. You realize you are doing something that means something to people. So shut up and get back to work”.

    Wes Craven leaves behind his wife, producer and former Disney Studios Vice President Iya Labunka, his daughter Jessica Craven with husband Mike Wodkowski and their daughter Myra-Jean Wodkowski, his older sister Carol Buhrow, son Jonathan Craven with wife Rachel Craven. The family stated that he passed away at 1 P.M. on Sunday. Our prayers and condolences go out to the family and friends.
