DreamWorks Animation is going down under for its upcoming animated Larrikins, set for a release in 2018. An all-Australian voice cast for the film featuring Hugh Jackman and Naomi Watts was announced today alongside some story details and a new director. Earlier it was announced that Margot Robbie had joined the film’s cast.

Rose Byrne, Ben Mendelsohn, Jacki Weaver, Josh Lawson, Ewen Leslie and Damon Herriman are all onboard. Harry Cripps wrote the script, and described the film as "a musical about guys and their friendships" at Screen Australia's recent Family Film Forum. Tim Minchin, the multihyphenate comedian, actor, and musician behind Matilda the Musical, is directing Larrikins alongside Chris Miller.

Tim also composing all the songs and music for Larrikins, has been working on the film with Hollywood studio DreamWorks Animation (Kung Fu Panda, Shrek, Madagascar) for several years. Larrikins is set to open in theatres on February 16, 2018.
