Idris Elba’s Father Wanted Him To Become A DJ, Not An Actor

Idris Elba can be seen on screen in ‘The Dark Tower’, which is based on the novel series of the same name, by Stephen King. Having acted in around 40 films and being the star of his own TV show, it is safe to say the Idris has made it as an actor. He is quite confident with his place in the industry but, his father wasn’t always happy with his decision to act.

“My acting teacher in school told me that one day I'd be a great actor. My father wasn't that happy. He was worried that I'd starve and he told me to keep working as a DJ so I could earn a living. But my mother supported me”, Idris shared.

Talking about his inspirations, the Pacific Rim actor shared that he once skipped school to watch ‘Once Upon a Time in America’ which starred Robert De Niro. The actor has a few projects lined up which include ‘The Mountain Between Us’ and ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, along with others. It is also being said that ‘The Dark Tower’ will be turned into a TV series as well.
