    ‘Inferno’ Tops DVD, Blu-ray Disc Sales Charts Leaving ‘The Girl on the Train’ In The Dust

    The national home video sales charts show that Tom Hanks’ ‘Inferno’ has topped both DVD and Blu-ray sales for the week ending on January 29. The Sony Pictures film overtook last week’s winner ‘The Girl on the Train’ which dropped to No. 10. This is the biggest week-to-week drop in years.

    ‘Inferno’, which is the third installment in the Robert Langdon film series, puts Felicity Jones alongside Tom Hanks, who reprises his role as Robert Langdon. On the big screen, the Ron Howard directorial grossed $220 million and was developed on a budget of $75 million. ‘Suicide Squad’ took the second position, replacing Ben Affleck’s ‘The Accountant’ which dropped to No. 4.

    46% of Inferno’s total unit sales came from Blu-ray Discs. The overall disc sales chart also puts ‘The Secret Life of Pets’ on No. 3. When it comes to Home Media Magazine’s rental chart for the week, ‘Deepwater Horizon’ holds the No. 1 spot for the third consecutive week while ‘Snowden’ has moved up to the second position.
