It’s time for Star Trek Into Darkness and more for Hollywood’s weekend

It’s time again when we shall look forward to the next changes at Hollywood theatres. The expected leader of this week’s list is Star Trek Into Darkness, a sequel to 2009's Star Trek where Chris Pine plays the lead role. The other contenders for this week’s box-office earnings are Black Rock, Erased, Frances Ha, Augustine, Pieta, The English Teacher, Populaire, 33 Postcards and Elemental.

While J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness will see the face-off between Chris Pine-Zachary Quinto-Zoe Saldana and Benedict Cumberbatch, Black Rock is a thriller which would find Kate Bosworth, Lake Bell and Katie Aselton running on a remote island. Erased is all about a former CIA agent and his daughter, being chased by assassins, while Frances Ha is a low budget film in black-and-white, which has its central character, almost similar to the HBO series Girls.

Another exciting sensuous period drama is in the queue for this weekend, Augustine. An off-beat storyline will also mesmerise the audiences with Pieta where Cho Min-soo and Lee Jung-jin are going to give some extraordinary performances. With The English Teacher, Craig Zisk is going to move to the silver screen and the story is based on a teacher’s life, Julianne Moore. Another romantic comedy which will also hit the theatres this weekend is Populaire and 33 Postcards, starring Guy Pearce is all about an Australian prison inmate and his Chinese foster child. Three activists from around the world working on eco-issues will be focused in Elemental. Hence, Hollywood theatres are fully packed for this eventful weekend and viewers would definitely find it hard to choose one this time.
